Edition Peters Artist Management (EPAM) is delighted to announce the addition of the exciting chamber group the Fugata Quintet to its roster of performing artists for general management. EPAM will also forge ahead with publishing opportunities that this new partnership offers to the publishing arm of the Edition Peters Group.
Inspired by the ethnic melting pot of Astor Piazzolla’s Buenos Aires, the Fugata Quintet brings its classical character and dazzling technique to Nuevo Tango. With diverse backgrounds in jazz and world music, the five performers create a distinguished and passionate sound that has been heard in festivals and concert halls from Greece to the UK. All outstanding musicians in their own right, Zivorad Nikolic (accordion), Anastasios Mavroudis (violin), Antonis Hatzinikolaou (guitar), Anahit Chaushyan (piano) and James Opstad (double bass) combine their unique musical personalities to create an enormous range of possibilities for expression.
“We are delighted about our new partnership with EPAM and about the prospect of working with such a distinguished management team”, said Anastasios Mavroudis. “Edition Peters has inspired and educated generations of musicians with its publications over more than two centuries, it is a tremendous honour for our ensemble to be associated with such a world renowned institution. We are all very much looking forward to what we can achieve together in our efforts to present Astor Piazzolla’s original compositions, as well as to explore the exciting possibilities that our instrumentation presents by working closely with composers on new works for our quintet.”
The Fugata Quintet has performed arrangements of compositions across a broad range of musical styles, from Bach to modern commissions, and has played all of Piazzolla’s published works for quintet at classical and jazz venues throughout the UK, including the Royal Albert Hall, Cheltenham Town Hall, Kings Place, and at the Purcell Room that was described as “one completely memorable and emotionally overwhelming evening.” (Jon Snow, Channel 4 News). The Quintet’s live performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and in 2010 it recorded a double album entitled Astor Piazzolla, described as “Piazzolla perfection” by Songlines Magazine.
Robin Tyson, Head of EPAM, said: “we are thrilled to have teamed up with the Fugata Quintet, as their music-making is at the highest level. We look forward to building their performance career and to bringing Nuevo Tango to festivals and halls across the world.”
