I have been fortunate enough to be part of the Fugata Quintet for almost ten years. What at the beginning seemed an easy task proved to be a very challenging but at the same time rewarding experience. In a way, I consider ‘Cinco Piezas’ as the fruits of labour working with these great musicians and friends.
For those who know the score, I have to confess that (in some movements more than others), I couldn’t resist altering some sections, changing the colour of harmonies at times and making minor additions which I thought they suit this style of music. I based this version on the published score by Berbén as well as the “R. Aussel Manuscript” as Argentinians like to call it…
